I always feel a bit cheated that we didn’t have a prom when I left school! Back in the 90s, it was just a bit of a disco and a curly sandwich buffet. But in recent years, the prom has taken off big time in the UK. The American phenomenon is now an integral part of the British school calendar, for those leaving high school and even primary school!
For most of us over the age of 25, prom still remains something we’ve only seen on movies. And boy have we seen some on movies! Without further ado, here’s my top 5 movie proms (and their prom dresses of course)…
5) Napoleon Dynamite (2004) – That pink dress… those sleeves!
4) Never Been Kissed (1999) – And the award for the ugliest prom dress goes to…
3) Carrie (1976) – not your conventional prom…
2) Grease (1978) – probably the most famous prom in movie history!
1. Back To The Future (1989) – the fact it was set in 1955 could explain why it’s my ultimate favourite!
The dreamy boys, the music, the dancing, the good times -all great to watch. But there was one thing and one thing only that kept me interested and that was the dresses! From puffy sleeved pink satin to long silk strapless numbers and every slinky, bodycon, puffball dress in-betweeen!
Prom is the time when every girl can live her dreams of being a princess! You can go for taffetas, silks, satins and of course the every popular 50s style with yards of netted petticoat underneath!
We have vintage prom dresses from the 1950s, vintage prom dresses from the 1970s, vintage prom dresses from the 1980s and more!
Why not drop me an email with your size and favourite styles or colours and let me send you some suggestions from our massive range. You can email me anytime on emma@myvintage.co.uk
I look forward to hearing from you soon prom queens!
