Fave Five - Vintage Nightwear

There is something so very glamorous about vintage nightwear. Not a cotton nightie or slouchy pyjama in sight, the nylon, silk and polyester creations are usually more demure or cutesy than their modern counterparts. Whether you enjoy a slinky sexy number or something more fluffy and adorable (think Rizzo vs Sandra Dee) then we are bound to have some vintage nightwear you will be dreaming about.


So, lets get into this week's Fave Five with my handpicked five favourite vintage knitwear pieces...


1) 1950s Vintage Floral Cotton Housecoat Size 10/12/14 - £40



Beautiful vintage house coat/dressing gown from Suzy Q. Classic wrap around style in a glorious fern/floral print cotton fabric in rich green and blue. Large collar and bother inner waist ties and tie belt. Turn up cuffs and two large front pockets. A fantastic vintage fifties piece and in very good vintage condition.


2) 1960s Vintage Mint Green Fluffy Nylon Nightdress Size 8/10/12 - £25



Such a pretty vintage nylon night dress from the high street icons St Michael. Beautiful pastel mint green with delicate fluffy frills to the shoulders. Capped sleeves with frilled edging at neckline and hemline. Double layered nylon with some stretch. Label states to fit 32"-34" bust, measures up to 36" bust. In very good vintage condition.


3) 1990s Vintage Black St Michael Nightdress Size 14 - £22



Pretty silky night dress from 1990s St Michael. Strappy full length style with pretty lace detail at the bust. Light silky fabric (non stretch). This would also be super cute worn as an evening dress with the right accessories. In very good vintage condition.


4) 1960s Vintage Pastel Floral Nylon Nightdress Size 8/10/12 - £28



Super pretty vintage nylon night dress pastel shades of blue and green, with a delicate floral pattern. Capped sleeves with frilled edging and tie bow at neckline. Double layered nylon with some stretch. Label states to fit 32"-34" bust, measures up to 36". In very good vintage condition.


5) 1960s Vintage Baby Blue David Nieper Dressing Gown Size 10 - £28



This stunning vintage dressing gown is the epitome of vintage glamour. Beautiful baby blue colour with white lace trim with pretty little blue satin rose buds. Gorgeous sleeves that flair from the elbow. Full length with small fastening at the front. Non stretch poly-cotton fabric - light and airy. Made by quality nightwear specialists David Nieper. In very good vintage condition.


SPECIAL MENTION... I couldn't leave this little beauty out, so I guess we have a Fave Six this week!


1960s Vintage Turquoise Nylon Bed Jacket Size 12/14


Original vintage 1960s bed jacket in a lovely turquoise nylon with fluffy frilled edging. Elbow length sleeves with frills and a little tie fastener at the neck. Will fit up to 38" bust and is approx 18" long. A firm My Vintage favourite! There is a rip under one arm as pictured but otherwise in good vintage condition.
