Vintage Favourites - August 2020

I don't know about you, but I can't quite believe it's actually August! To say we have been living through a global pandemic and all the weird and wonderful things that have come from that since March; time sure has flown by. If you're in the UK you will also know that despite the odd spell here and there, the weather hasn't really felt so summary either, especially for us in the North!

As the world slowly reopens and social distancing and covering our faces in public seems strangely normal, on the whole it seems many of us are able to go out more. This also means a move from lounge-wear and pajamas to actually being able to wear real outfits again and I'm all about that! We have seen a few more of you in the shop too which has been lovely.

Whether you are still shielding, out and about shopping or simply preferring to shop from home; I have rounded up some of my favourite original vintage pieces from the latest additions to the website that are all available now. Simply tap any of the images to be taken to their page for more information or to add to your basket. Remember we ship WORLDWIDE so no matter where you are, you can have a little bit of My Vintage heaven delivered to your door. So sit back and enjoy my vintage August favourites...

VINTAGE DRESSES

First up is dresses, vintage dresses always manage to make me swoon from swing to pencil and mini to maxi, no matter what the era. Here are some of the best from the current online selection.

I absolutely love this 60s vintage shift dress in navy and white. It's the perfect transitional piece from summer to autumn and would look just as good with sandals and sunnies as it would with tights and boots or loafers. You could even wear it with a cropped denim jacket and some white Vans or Converse for a cute twist on the traditional retro vibe. Just tap the photo more more information.

Another one of my absolute favourites at the moment is this quirky 1980s sundress in a soft yellow stretch cotton. It is covered in this super cool print with french text and depictions of glamorous 1920s women. Although this is a great summer dress, you could also layer it up in the autumn by adding a long sleeved top underneath for a totally different look. For more information or to buy, simply tap the image.

Looking for a cute day-to-night dress? This one is just perfect! Featuring on-trend ruffles and in the stunning mid blue shade, I was immediately drawn to this original 1970s vintage midi dress. So pretty yet also so comfy and practical, it is super easy to wear but makes a statement. Tap the image to find out more.

VINTAGE TOPS

Whether it's part of a full vintage outfit or to throw on with your trusty pair of jeans, a vintage top is always a great buy. Inexpensive yet very well made, a good vintage shirt, vintage t-shirt, vintage blouse or vintage top can inject a whole new and refreshing feel to your everyday wardrobe. They are also brilliant for Zoom calls and Facetime meets because no one will ever know if you are wearing joggers or PJ bottoms with them either!

This 80s vintage blouse looks great with blue jeans, black jeans or even coloured trousers. Add a pop f colour or stick to the monochrome palette. Casual and comfortable but still smart and chic, just tap on the image if you would like to see more or add to basket.

Something a little more glitzy but that also looks great with jeans and high waisted trousers is this original 1950s/1960s vintage sequin shift top. Understated and wearable glamour with all that mid century appeal as well as a nod to the Art Deco style. It is truly stunning, tap the image to find out more.

If you want something to cover up on the cooler days and evening then this gorgeous vintage cardigan from 1970s Kintyre could be just the thing. The mustard colour is super chic whilst still uber retro and the open style is very chic with many different outfits. If you would like to see more pics and info just tap the image.

VINTAGE BAGS

Finally this week, I have picked out some glorious vintage bags to show you. I have to admit that I am a sucker for vintage accessories as they always fit and never let you down! These bags are the perfect way to add a little vintage to your ensemble and also make great gifts for vintage and retro lovers.

This Swissair bag is just so cool! Made from a mid blue vinyl, this is an original travel/flight bag from the 1960s by the airline of Switzerland. To see more photos and see sizes etc, just tap the image.

One of the biggest bag trends in recent years has been the mini back-pack; from leather to plastic and everything in-between. I simply adore this vintage inspired version in beautiful tapestry. It's so pretty but also holds plenty too. It's one of those bags that is bound to receive lots of compliments on your travels. Click the pic for more details or to buy.

Sticking with the tapestry style (not that I am obsessed!) this vintage sewing/knitting bag is adorable. If you're crafty then this is ideal for you but it would also make a really cute handbag. lunch bag or even an overnight bag. The neutral tones are super classy and will tie in with many different looks. Just tap for more info.

And that concludes the vintage favourites for August! I think there are some great picks in there this month and some really pretty and versatile pieces.
