Original 1960s Vintage Cobalt Blue Sheer Pleated Cocktail Dress Size 12
A truly striking late 1950s to early 1960s vintage cocktail dress by London Town, Made in Mayfair, crafted in an incredible vivid cobalt blue that feels both bold and timeless. This is a beautifully unusual piece, combining soft structure with sheer movement in a way that feels effortlessly elegant and just a little bit daring. The bodice is softly structured with a shaped bust panel beneath a sheer overlay, creating a subtle layered effect that adds depth without heaviness. The neckline and sleeves are formed from delicate sheer fabric, giving the dress an ethereal, almost weightless feel across the shoulders. From the waist, the dress falls into a finely pleated, fluid skirt that moves beautifully with the body. The sheer outer layer gives a light, airy quality to the silhouette, designed to be worn with an underskirt, slip, or styled more boldly with tonal layers depending on the look. The fabric itself has a slightly crisp hand, helping the pleats hold their shape while still allowing for soft movement. A rare and distinctive piece that sits somewhere between classic cocktail elegance and more avant-garde vintage styling, making it perfect for special occasions or for someone looking for something truly different. In very good vintage condition with only light signs of wear consistent with age.

MEASURED & READY TO WEAR
Carefully measured, described and prepared — no surprises.
At My Vintage, we take time to carefully measure each item of vintage clothing so that you have the best chance of ensuring a good fit whenever you buy from us. We measure the clothing laid flat as the diagrams show below and for bust, chest, waist and hips we double the measurement. For example, if the waist measures 17" across when laid flat then this would equate to a 34" waist (17 x 2 = 34)
We use the measurements we collate to assign each item of vintage clothing with an approximate modern-day size. For example, a dress with a 34" bust, 28" waist and 34" hips would normally equate to a current UK size 10. The labels on vintage clothing can vary massively depending on country of origin and date of manufacture. Clothing sizes have changed over the years and from decade to decade we see alternative types of sizing as well as variations on the way measurements equate to dress sizes.
We always recommend that you double-check the measurements of the vintage clothing item you are interested in, ideally by measuring an item of clothing you already own and that fits well, and comparing these measurements. There can be variations due to the desired fit, shape and fabric of an item but our size guidelines are normally very accurate and take the stress out of buying vintage online.
