Original 1970s Vintage Suede Longline Waistcoat Size 8
A beautifully distinctive 1970s longline waistcoat crafted in a rich deep grey-green suede, featuring striking geometric leather appliqué panels to the front in a mix of circular and angular shapes. The design is elevated further by contrast mustard stitching, which adds definition and a subtle handcrafted feel that perfectly complements the earthy tone of the suede. Cut in an edge-to-edge style with no fastenings, the silhouette falls in a long, clean line, creating an effortlessly relaxed yet structured look typical of the era. The suede itself has a substantial, weighty feel, giving the piece presence and quality, while the minimalist back allows the detailed front to take centre stage. Though unlabelled, the construction and design details strongly reflect 1970s craftsmanship, with a focus on texture, natural tones, and artisanal detailing. Best suited to a modern UK size 8, based on the measurements provided, with a neat fit through the bust and an open, non-restrictive front. Layer over a roll neck, blouse, or dress to add depth and texture to an outfit — an easy statement piece that brings a subtle 70s edge to both casual and more styled looks. In good vintage condition, with light, expected signs of ageing to the suede, but still very wearable and full of character.

MEASURED & READY TO WEAR
Carefully measured, described and prepared — no surprises.
At My Vintage, we take time to carefully measure each item of vintage clothing so that you have the best chance of ensuring a good fit whenever you buy from us. We measure the clothing laid flat as the diagrams show below and for bust, chest, waist and hips we double the measurement. For example, if the waist measures 17" across when laid flat then this would equate to a 34" waist (17 x 2 = 34)
We use the measurements we collate to assign each item of vintage clothing with an approximate modern-day size. For example, a dress with a 34" bust, 28" waist and 34" hips would normally equate to a current UK size 10. The labels on vintage clothing can vary massively depending on country of origin and date of manufacture. Clothing sizes have changed over the years and from decade to decade we see alternative types of sizing as well as variations on the way measurements equate to dress sizes.
We always recommend that you double-check the measurements of the vintage clothing item you are interested in, ideally by measuring an item of clothing you already own and that fits well, and comparing these measurements. There can be variations due to the desired fit, shape and fabric of an item but our size guidelines are normally very accurate and take the stress out of buying vintage online.
