Original 1980s Vintage Geissler Colour Block Skirt Suit Size 12
Such a super cool and unusual 1980s vintage skirt suit by Geissler, featuring a bold colour block design in coffee brown and cream with the prettiest subtle pink undertone. It’s one of those pieces that feels really fashion-forward for its time — minimal, graphic and slightly avant-garde — while still being totally wearable. The top has a clean round neckline and short sleeves, with gorgeous decorative square buttons running down the front and structured pocket detailing that gives it a very chic, tailored finish. The matching skirt has a sleek, straight silhouette with side pockets and a flattering, classic length that sits perfectly for both vintage and modern styling. The fabric is a smooth poly-cotton blend with a crisp, structured feel and no stretch, and the set holds its shape beautifully. The skirt is fully lined for comfort and a smooth fit, while the top is unlined and slightly lighter, making it easy to wear layered or on its own. Labelled Geissler, and based on the measurements provided this would best suit a modern UK size 12. Style it as a full statement set with sleek heels and gold jewellery for a true 80s power look, or split the pieces — the top looks incredible with high-waisted black trousers, and the skirt pairs beautifully with a fitted knit or a simple camisole for a more modern outfit. In very good vintage condition overall, with some degradation to the shoulder pads as noted.

At My Vintage, we take time to carefully measure each item of vintage clothing so that you have the best chance of ensuring a good fit whenever you buy from us. We measure the clothing laid flat as the diagrams show below and for bust, chest, waist and hips we double the measurement. For example, if the waist measures 17" across when laid flat then this would equate to a 34" waist (17 x 2 = 34)
We use the measurements we collate to assign each item of vintage clothing with an approximate modern-day size. For example, a dress with a 34" bust, 28" waist and 34" hips would normally equate to a current UK size 10. The labels on vintage clothing can vary massively depending on country of origin and date of manufacture. Clothing sizes have changed over the years and from decade to decade we see alternative types of sizing as well as variations on the way measurements equate to dress sizes.
We always recommend that you double-check the measurements of the vintage clothing item you are interested in, ideally by measuring an item of clothing you already own and that fits well, and comparing these measurements. There can be variations due to the desired fit, shape and fabric of an item but our size guidelines are normally very accurate and take the stress out of buying vintage online.
