Original 1970s Vintage Petrol Grey Faux Fur Borg Coat Size 14–16
A beautifully soft 1970s vintage faux fur coat in a rich petrol-grey tone, made by Burton and crafted in plush borg fabric using Orlon acrylic fibre. This is a wonderfully tactile piece with a deep, velvety pile that catches the light subtly, giving it real depth and presence without feeling heavy or costume-like. The coat features a double-breasted front, relaxed dropped shoulders, and a straight, easy silhouette that drapes effortlessly on the body rather than sitting rigidly. Fully lined for comfort and warmth, it has that unmistakable late-60s to 70s feel - cosy, confident, and quietly statement-making. Although Burton is traditionally associated with menswear, the cut, fabric choice, and overall styling of this coat firmly place it in women’s vintage, with a shape that also lends itself beautifully to unisex wear. The relaxed proportions and dropped seams make it ideal for styling oversized, whether worn open over knits or layered up for colder months. Modern UK size equivalent: best suited to a UK 14–16, depending on preferred fit; will also work well as an oversized, unisex style. Style it with wide-leg trousers and boots for a classic 70s silhouette, or throw it over denim and a chunky knit for an effortlessly cool, modern look that still nods to its vintage roots. Very good vintage condition overall, with the faux fur pile remaining soft and even, clean lining, and no notable flaws to report.

MEASURED & READY TO WEAR
Carefully measured, described and prepared — no surprises.
At My Vintage, we take time to carefully measure each item of vintage clothing so that you have the best chance of ensuring a good fit whenever you buy from us. We measure the clothing laid flat as the diagrams show below and for bust, chest, waist and hips we double the measurement. For example, if the waist measures 17" across when laid flat then this would equate to a 34" waist (17 x 2 = 34)
We use the measurements we collate to assign each item of vintage clothing with an approximate modern-day size. For example, a dress with a 34" bust, 28" waist and 34" hips would normally equate to a current UK size 10. The labels on vintage clothing can vary massively depending on country of origin and date of manufacture. Clothing sizes have changed over the years and from decade to decade we see alternative types of sizing as well as variations on the way measurements equate to dress sizes.
We always recommend that you double-check the measurements of the vintage clothing item you are interested in, ideally by measuring an item of clothing you already own and that fits well, and comparing these measurements. There can be variations due to the desired fit, shape and fabric of an item but our size guidelines are normally very accurate and take the stress out of buying vintage online.
